Catherine Barbé

In November 2010, Catherine Barbé joined the new state agency commissioned to design and implement 200 km
of new metro lines around Paris Metropolitan area : the Société du Grand Paris. She is responsible for the
development of partnerships with all metropolitan institutions and stakeholders, especially in relation to urban
development.

From November 2001 to June 2008, Catherine Barbé was the director of the Paris Department of City Planning.
In her previous position in the Ministry of Public Works, Ms. Barbé was in charge of national planning and
housing strategy and legislation. She coordinated the preparation of a major piece of legislation that renewed the
planning rules and procedures of public urban development in France.

Ms. Barbé also studied at the Institut d’études politiques de Paris and the national school of administration
(ENA) and is a qualified architect.
