Pavan Kantharaj

2018-19 Fellows

Pavan Kantharaj is a Fellow of the Center for Buildings, Infrastructure and Public Space and enrolled in the Master’s Degree program for Construction Engineering & Management at the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science of Columbia University. He completed his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Bangalore Institute of Technology in Bengaluru, India, conferred in July 2018.

He is passionate about exploring sustainable structures using lean construction techniques to optimize time and cost in a construction project. He has worked as an Engineering Intern at the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) where he assisted the Chief Engineer. He was responsible for reviewing construction documents & analyzing the reinforcement schedule for different members including piers, segments, and slabs at stations. He has also had the opportunity to work as a Project Management Intern at M/s Surya Constructions where he was not only involved in inspecting on-site construction activities but also dealt with the client on a 10,000 sq ft commercial building in Bangalore. He has experience of working with software such as Primavera P6 Pro R17.7, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and STAAD Pro.

At CBIPS he is participating in the research efforts pertaining to public housing to analyze the best practices adopted around the world and how to bring this to the aid of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to solve the problems of aging infrastructure.
