Sam Kortchmar is a graduate student at Columbia University pursuing a Masters degree in Earth and Environmental Engineering. His undergraduate degree, a BA in Computer Science, was conferred by Brown University. His current CBIPS research project is AI-Driven Decarbonization.
Sam is a former software engineer pivoting into climate tech. His interests include renewable energy, desalination, carbon capture and utilization, and climate modeling. Within Columbia's Yip Lab, he is hoping to use his computational background to contribute to brine valorization processes. In his spare time, Sam likes to play & hear music, play and watch basketball, and read science fiction.
