Thomas Scerbo

Thomas Scerbo serves as Northeast Division Sales Officer and Senior Vice President. In this role, he oversees client infrastructure needs throughout the firm’s eight-state Northeast Division. Scerbo is based in HNTB’s office in the Empire State Building. He returned to HNTB in this senior role after eight years in strategic leadership roles at AECOM. Most recently, he spear-headed growth across business lines in New York City and built relationships with key city stakeholders, including the Mayor’s Office, local elected officials, and city agency leadership.

Scerbo brings with him a 23-year track record of successfully leading integrated multi-disciplinary teams in the architecture, engineering and construction management industry. He has held numerous leadership positions and has extensive experience with organizational transformation and growth strategy development across multiple markets and disciplines.

During his earlier tenure with HNTB from 2001 to 2014, Scerbo served in several progressively more senior roles starting as a designer, then senior designer for aviation terminals and transit facilities, advancing to transportation architecture market sector leader, then eastern U.S. district leader for HNTB’s architecture group, followed by New York office sales manager, and eventually architecture practice leader for the Northeast Division. Scerbo has worked exclusively for large engineering and architecture firms and is a champion for design excellence and digital innovation in the development of sustainable and equitable urban infrastructure.

Scerbo’s professional career is augmented by support for the industry through his extensive involvement and leadership in organizations such as the New York Building Congress, the American Society of Military Engineers, the ACE Mentor Program of Greater NY, New York Institute of Technology, and the Van Alen Institute. He is a registered architect, with a master’s degree in advanced architectural design from the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation; and he holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the New York Institute of Technology.
