Vijay Mallangi

2018-19 Fellows

Sai Vijay Reddy Mallangi is a Fellow of the Center for Buildings, Infrastructure
and Public Space and enrolled in the Master’s Degree program for Construction
Engineering & Management at the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and
Applied Science of Columbia University. His undergraduate degree was a B.E. in
Civil Engineering from Osmania University / Vasavi College of Engineering in
Hyderabad, India, conferred in June, 2017.


He has significant experience working as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at SRK
Construction & Projects Pvt. Ltd. in Hyderabad, where he worked on residential projects, managing timelines and resources to ensure timely execution of projects, quality delivery, adherence to specifications, and labor productivity. Vijay has also been a leader and project coordinator of the 5th Pillar, a non-profit organization, working on long-term community development projects and anti-corruption activism. 


His research interests include the design of a sewage treatment plant for the
Ibrahimbagh Village where he quantified and tested systems and developed a
project that enabled reuse of treated water for irrigation. At CBIPS he will be
participating in the research efforts pertaining to the urban design and
infrastructure issues related to the creation of a 2030 District in Washington
Heights, Inwood, and Marble Hill.
