PLAN FOR WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, INWOOD, AND MARBLE HILL
In support of the 2030 Plan, “In the Heights” for Washington Heights, Inwood, and Marble Hills, the Center for Buildings, Infrastructure and Public Space is focusing research on ten key issues that will determine environmental quality over the next decade or more. CBIPS Fellows are looking at aspects and attributes of open space, affordable housing, education, transit, small business retention, immigration, health and well-being, economic development and work force, infrastructure, and waterfront. An understanding of existing conditions, plans and ongoing initiatives allow for proactive suggestions and commentaries on what needs to be done to assure a future that is sustainable, resilient, secure and economically viable. Growth without gentrification and development without displacement need to be correlated with the experience and expertise that civil engineering acumen brings to civic engagement on the street. Research is proceeding in close collaboration with the 2030 Vision Plan of District 10 Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez.
